Is your front support (the metal piece underneath the middle of the bumper that sticks out past the front air dam) painted body color, or black?

Mine is black also, of course, my car is black as well. I have seen other 82s that were various colors and theirs was black as well.

All the '80-'82's I've seen they were black, including my own.

Yes, it is. Especially since mine is silver
, But what was it shaped like before it has been crushed several times by parking blocks
? Seriously !
. I have always wondered. mine is a curious mushroom shape.

That's exactly why I'm asking. Mine has also seen its share of parking blocks over the last 25 years and is looking pretty bad. It is painted silver (body color). Now I know the car has had a repaint, so I don't know if that's original or not. I recently saw a front-end shot of an '82 Collector Edition where that piece was painted gloss black, and it looked very nice. Got me thinking that maybe I could just clean it up and hit it with some Por-15.

I think mine is flat black, but I'll have to look.

I wish I'd thought of this during Carlisle, I could've looked underneath a hundred cars!
