Can someone tell me what color my 77's f/wall was from the factory? A freind said it should have been body color(dark red). It is now black and so is the repainted body.

If it was built by Chrysler, it should be body color...
The firewalls on Corvettes are painted a semi-gloss, or satin black. The factory application wasn't the best in the world, either, and most of the lower parts didn't get much, if any paint. Adams' Apple2008-05-05 10:08:53

No disrespect, but your friend needs to do his/her homework.  Semi-flat black which the folks at the plant called Duco.

My 74 is satin black.  When I cleaned the firewall, I used a cotton ball dipped  lightly in satin black latex enamel paint that I got at Walmart.
Turned out real good and looks new.

The top of my firewall was black, the bottom half is pretty much bare fiberglass.

The engine bay "blackout" paint procedure was basically one shot around the bay & then on to the next one.
