Well, after a long time, I finally painted the vette.
I painted it myself, with the help of my neighbor Al, who did all the mixing and let a helping eye to be sure I didn't miss anything.
I did a base coat / clear coat. Things went pretty well, with only a few minor glitzes. But all in all I am very please for the first time I ever painted a car. Put down 3 base coats and 3 clear coats.
There are more pics on my website below.

thanks all!
I was totally scared, but with the finance situation I had no choice but do it myself. It wasn't nearly as hard as I expected.
Dave, painting just a single color would be a cakewalk . Go for it if you feel good about it and cant afford to have it done by a professional. Even they had to start on their first car.
One secret i found is, TAPE OFF EVERYTHING !!!!! Color gets everywhere! Doing 2 different colors made it much harder.
I am very pleased with the outcome even though there were a couple of OOPS. But I don't care and if anyone pionts them out and tells me I should get my money back from the guy that painted it, I'll agree and take money out of one pocket and put it in the other.
I still need to wet sand it and have it buffed out, the buffing I will have a pro do! There you can rub right thru with too much pressure.
hope this helps.
