well some things went good and bad..

when I tried to lift the body the first time the rocker channels disenegrated.. so I decided to lift from the door striker and lower door hinge holes..

to do this.. I removed the doors, conv top, decklid, and dash (to get to doors).. some of which to save weight..

then when i did a little lifting.. the body looked like it was twisting.. so I put it back down and removed the windshield.. some idiot used roofing patch to glue the window down.. so I had to break the window to get it out.. it had quite a few rock chips anyway.. so it didnt break my heart..

the winshield frame is SHOT.. rusted out BADLY... oh well... its just money right ??

well tonight i used an engine hoist.. I used 2 3ft pieces of 1/4 chain..

the first connected two 2.5" bolts each with a nut and washer on each side of the metal to keep it from ripping.. then the other was connected to the door strikers.. where they joined in the middle.. that's where I had the engine hoist hook.. used the hoist to slowly lift the body off the frame.. no problems whatsoever..

now for the problems.. when i built my body dolly I didnt plan on using an engine hoist... so I had to cut a section out of it to get it to slide under the car and miss the hoist legs..

the dolly was about an inch too narrow.. had to make some on the fly mods to get it to work...

but the body is off and the rolling chassis is ready to tear down.. I wasnt able to bring it home because there was boxes of my wifes stuff in the garage.. but some mutuals friends came over and finished moving her out..

Tommorrow the restoration begins...

Sounds like you've got some work to do Ben.

Hope the rest of the birdcage is good.
