finally dropped the frame off for welding..

I finally got my frame dropped off at the custom rod shop around here..

Ive been pulling all-nighters at work for the past week and half..

havent been awake during the day time in a while..

hopefully ill get it back in two weeks and then the rebuilding process begins

they called today to asked me if I had a gm assembly manual for the car (which I do)

they want me to drop it off so they can insure that the frame is put back to specs..

they had some sweet rides out there.. a 57 chevy vert, a 55 2 dr hardtop.. and some really old 30's and 40's stuff..

they are charging me "under 500$" to weld in the two 48" side rails, the rear cross and the diff bracket. Im removing the trans cross in the process.

and they are fixing the passenger side parking brake cable mounting bracket holes.. someone ran some huge bolts in the holes and they are filling and drilling them out smaller. they are also replacing the square renforcing tab on the outer drivers side for the trailing arm bolt. I wallowed it out a bot too much when trying the get the trailing arm bolt out.

anyone know a cheap source for POR-15 ???

If your frame's going to be clean when you get it back, the POR may be a bit of overkill. And with a frame off resto, the car will in all likely be pampered from now on. Consider using an acrylic enamel, it's durable and looks good. Or a urethane, costs a bit more than enamel though. Oh yeah, use an etching primer or at least one with zinc.
I'd love to see some shots of the repaired frame when you get it back! Sounds like you're getting your money's worth.

Overkill you say? Then go with a polyurethane single stage, use about 3 coats and put a flex agent in it. The flex agent will minimize rock chips.
Oh yeah, wax it every day, put neons around the license plate, add the moons and no radar will touch you! You guys gotta listen to Ben's other post!
