emblems on top hood

i was wondering if those emblems like L-48 ,L-82 etc which are on top of the hood are standard or just an extra decoration the owner has put on it.
most of the c3's i see around doesn't have it , my vette 78 has the holes for it on he hood so before i have it repainted i rather know if those emblems are standard or an extra?

My 71 has the 454 on each side. Depends on the engine I think. My friend has the LT-1 and has the emblem on each side of his.

I think in 1978 they produced the L-82. Is that the engine you have? May be for thos emblems?

It's standard for some, but not all. 427, 454, L82, LT-1 it was standard (LT-1 was a decal and stripe package). Most others it was not. There are "L48" emblems on the market, but I understand they are reproductions for owner installation, as they supposedly were not GM originals.

Those L-48 emblems are after market they didn't come on 78s ,I think they look good, I have been going to get a pair for my 78 just haven't gotten around to ordering them yet. Ron 78

FYI...

When you order them, make sure to order some speed-nuts to install them. The ones I got form mine from Eclker's didn't come with any nor does it tell you that you'll need them.

If your hood is original, then the holes are for the L82 emblem. Hopefully your engine is the L82. The L48 did not have hood emblems.

yup my engine is a L-82 (which i found out after i bought the car as it was sold as an L-48 )

73-82 had the L48 and 75 to 79 had L82 on the hoods

Where on the hood do they go? My 75 L-48 does not have them.
