Hi gang,
|UPDATED|3/21/2012 11:06:22 AM (AZT)|/UPDATED|
Need some help with the front and gas emblems. I have both new ones but have not installed them yet. I see only the gas emblems have screws but cannot find the front or do the fronts have screws. I need to know how to get these off without doing harm to the paint. Thanks for the awesome help.

If only sticky tape use 30 pound fishing line and saw back and forth under the emblem.

Hey Mike, use a heat gun to soften the glue, not too hot, don't want to hurt the paint.

Mike, on my 79 the only emblems with nuts is the gas lid one. the side and front have pins to locate them, but the tape holds them on. HTH

It's still for sale. Just like to have the original emblems from it.

I sope to Lew today (my Corvette guy) and he says there aren't any nuts. He says he uses a plastic putty knife to get them off.

Ive used the fishing line technique several times with success. I think dental floss would do as well. The line cuts through the sticky tape and once the emblem is off adhesive remover does the rest of the work.
