I keep blowing a 20 amp fuse that controls my tach, volt meter.  The problem starts out when my battery light comes on and then the tach and volt meter go dead and the choke light on the tach comes on.  I replace the fuse and drive a few miles and then it happens again.  I have disconnected the tach and that does not help the problem.  Does anyone out there have any suggestions that would help me with this.  Its driving me crazy.

Thanks

According to the wiring diagram, that fuse powers a LOT of components, including the seat belt/key in ign. buzzer, defog timer/ relay, courtesy light timer, lock-up solenoid in the trans, EGR solenoid, and the AIR injection solenoid, as well as the gauges/tach!
So...the problem could be in ANY of these other components. You say that you can drive it a few miles before it happens again...I'd think that may indicate the lock-up solenoid in the trans. Try unplugging the wiring connector on the driver side of the trans, and driving it. If that solves the problem, you'll need to dig into the trans...

I can send ya the wiring diagram, if ya want...I'll do that now.

Thanks Joel:
I think you may have it, because i noticed that the car was not shifting right, ( trailering effect) I forgot to mention that i have changed a few things,  I replaced the stock distributor with an Accel vacuum advance and the stock carb with a Holley spread bore.  I did this a few years ago and never had a problem until now.  Could that have anything to do with the converter lockup. I have the shop manual that may have the wiring diagram.  If you want you can e mail me one.  Thanks for you help
