ELECTRIC CHOKE

1980.  I tried to replace my Neutral Safety Switch last fall with no luck.  Spent hours trying to find the "sweet spot" but no luck, so I pigtailed the purple and yellow and it starts in any gear; for now.  But! coincident with that, the choke (electric) doesn't work!  Is the choke fed from that NSS? Also, I have not checked to see if I have back-up lights; I assume not, since they are not attached at the NSS.  Should I connect the 3 wire connector at the NSS?
