I'm gonna convert my q-jet to an electric choke for my new manifold (Weiand Action plus) How should I wire that? Are there any other things I should watch out for?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Find a spot that gives you 12volts when the key is on. There are several places to find that, don't use the wire off the coil, check for brown wire. I used the wire that use to go on the carb for the anti-desiel-solenoid. There is a blank spot on the fuse panel for accessories that you could plug into as well.

Yes any key on 12 volt works fine. Be sure the curcuit carries enough amperage. But then you need to remember not to turn the key on before you start the car. The power supply will make the choke open before you want it to. Original electric chokes did one of a few things.
1. Routed power though a special oil pressure switch. This did not allow the choke to have power until there was oil pressure. This switch has 3 terminal. One for oil pressure, and two for the switch for the choke. Sometimes this switch was used for fuel pump power.
2. We don't have this, but a stator connection from the alternator. When the charging system started, the choke powered up.
3. Ignition sensor. An electronic board the looked for a tach siganl then powered up the choke.
If you get in and start it, non of these matter. Some people get in, turn on the key to hear the radio or whatever, then fiddle around in the car again doing whatever. Then the choke opens and you have a hard start. Either install one of the above, or don't turn on the key until you are ready to start the car. (far easier).
