Door won't open

My door panels are off, so that made it a bit easier. I had to take a big screwdriver and hammer and drive the latch pawl down and off of the strike bolt. it was pretty tight. The way the door panels are notched to clear the latch bolt, you could possibly still get in there and not damage the door panel, Take a good look to be sure you have the same problem. I could see the small piece wedged in.
