is it possible to change my inside door panel on my 1979 vette with a door panel of a 76? I hate the handle being on top.

any thoughts?
My 79 vette, has lots of TLC now ;-)

Im not sure but I bet it would be close enough that you could "bubba-ize" it. |grin|
I replaced the door panels on my 76 last year
and wasn't thrilled about the door handels. They didn't seem sturdy at all...

Funny, I have 78 doors on my 76 and want to switch them back to 76 doors. I think the setup to switch from 78 back to 76 is there, but I don't think that you can switch from 76 to 78 without changing the doors. I don't think that there is the space for the door handle. Email me and I'd be willing to trade hardware with you.

Vette(s): 1968 convertible; 1980 L-82. Numbers match on both.
This swap is more trouble than you want to fool with. Playing with door opening mechanisms is never particularly fun. If you would like to have an idea of what you might be getting into, get the assembly instruction manual for your year, then one for an older Shark. Compare the assembly drawings covering door opening mechanisms and you will be able to see the differences.
If it were me, I wouldn't do it BUT--push come to shove--I would amass all the older parts I was going to need before I started on the job.
