I need to replace the door hinge pins on my 1979 C3. Any tips I should know about to avoid problems?  Thanks

There is a tool available from most Corvette suppliers that will make the job much easier.  It is worth the cost of getting it.

Enlist a second pair of hands if possible,  and from my own experience and f*-up,  get a bath towel or something similar and place it along the front edge of the door or fender(or both).... as i accidentally lost my grip(was doing it by myself, with a floor jack on the outer end of the door to help keep it level)  and ended up with a nice scratch on the door from the fender edge hitting it....  its a tight area to get in there with a punch and hammer, especially the top pin, if i recall(its been a decade or better)...  but it can be done :)

Ok. Take the doors off. Replace the springs, bushings and pins. Spring replacement is much easier with the door unfastened and moved back about 6”. Support the doors and do the complete job. Those worn out parts were all born at the same time. A bit more effort, less chance of buggering the paint and you will be happier in the long run. Ask me how I know? Plan, do it once and you will be pleased. If you don’t, guaranteed you will wish you had done the bushings and pins at the same time. Only my opinion.
