Vette(s): 57 Corvette, 63 Corvette convertible, 67 Corvette convertible and currently own a 75 Corvette coupe and 2000 coupe

When I open the driver side door on my 75 coupe instead of opening up straight out from the car it seems to drop 1/2" then open away from the car. Any thoughts on what would cause this and how to fix it. When I open the passenger side it just opens wide without any drop so I know there must be somthing causing this to happen on the drivers side.

Thanks

Kevin

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!
Lift up and down on the door and watch the hinges.  This problem is usually due to worn hinge pins.  You can replace the pins and bushings, or may need to replace the hinge.
If there is no play, check the body mounts.  If they collaspe the door will come out of adjustment.
If all is good, you may just need to adjust the hinges, but they ususally don't come out of adjustment, unless there is some wear.

Vette(s): 1973 L-48 Coupe. Classic white with black leather interior.

I recently corrected the same problem on my 73.  As Kysler suggested, my hinge pins were worn, and bronze bushings were worn down to almost nothing.  The replacement required removal of the door as the top pin will hit the upon removal.  Once the door was removed, the change out was a snap.  My doors now work great with no droop.  Hope this helps.
