Door actuator

I am totally fed up with the never ending snowfall here in the northeast so I decided to go hide in the garage today for some therapy. I bought restored door lock switches off of eBay and replaced them today along with some much needed window track lubrication. I noticed that my passenger actuator is weak and hardly able to move the lock. My question is this... Is this something that can be repaired or should I just get a new actuator? Driver side works like a champ. Rook

Dan...are you talking about the power door lock solenoid/actuator? You might be able to spray that thing with WD40(or your personal favorite lubricant), and work on it and get it loosened up. Make sure the lock mechanism is well lubricated, too. If all that doesn't help, check the connector(s) for corrosion, heat damage, etc. If that all looks good, then it might be time for a replacement solenoid.

I have the same issue on my 69. It was barely able to open if I tried it enough times, now it's totally no go. I tried lube and tweaking linkage a bit, but still no joy... do I just need to replace the locking mechanism?

Well...the '69 doesn't have power door locks, but, if you are having a problem getting the locks to work after lubricating, the lock mechanism may certainly need to be replaced. Are you having a problem locking/unlocking the doors, or are you having a problem with the door handle itself?

Locks (manual) work fine after lube... opening the door from the outside is the problem. Interior handle works perfect

Get some more lube up in the handle assembly. If memory is correct there is a little lever in their that flips around.
