Help, again. Dome light doesn't work. I replaced bulb, nothing. I read somewhere there is a timer or something that can causes problems? I have a 77 T-Top by the way. Any suggestions on where to start trouble shooting? Thanks.

hi,
the most common problem, i think, it the switches located in the door jams. when you open the door the switch should pop open turning on the light. many times the switch gets dirt etc. in it and will not open. try pulling the switch knob out and see if the light works.

Follow the basics...is the fuse OK? Do the other courtesy lights work and not the dome light or are they all out? Like already said, check the door switches.
There is a timer if your car has the convenience group...most had it. It's a flat orange connector that could be located either behind the speedometer/tach cluster or behind the right side of the dash. There was a change at some point where it was located.

Start by seeing if the orange wire to the light has power. It should be hot at all times. Even with the key out. If not, go back to the fuse box.
If there is power to the orange wire, the white wire grounds the light. It can be grounded by the door jamb switches, the headlight switch, or the timer. Any of them should allow the light to come on.
GM did make cars with all of the grounds going through the timer, but I don't think yours is that way. But it could be. If that's the case, the wire from the light to the timer may be a different color. Find that color at the timer and ground it. That should turn on the light. If not, you have a bad connection. IF so, and the white wires from the timer ground, the timer is bad.
