different colors here .........why?

I notices the top of the dash is darker then the bottom. Is this correct from the factory???? Any info would be helpful.

It looks like your dash pad has been changed and is not the original color. You can purchase replacement dash pads (I just did, but mine is black and kind of hard to mis-match). It looks like that is a brown one, and your interior is tan. I'm sure a good vette store can help you pick out the correct one for your interior.

thanks!!! I am trying to find out if it's from the factory like that, cause I have buckskin interior and then that top is a bit darker than the rest - so I really wasn't sure!

I would say that the dash pad has also been changed, and possibly a bad or darker dye lot. But another thing to consider is that the rest if the vynil is how may years old and faded, been in the sun, and the color is gone. That would probally be the best answer. Now to remedy that, possibly remove the rest of the interior peices and have them redyed, that woulld get them back to original colors, while maintaining the factory items, and alot lest costly than replacing, if there in good shape.

the top of most dahses are darker to reduce the reflective glare on the the windshild

I think my dash is slightly darker than the rest of the interior, but certainly not at that extreme.

I have a '77 and my interior is also buckskin. My top dash pad looks exactly like yours and I have no reason to believe it's not factory.

I have a 76 with Buckskin Interior and mine looks the same as yours. I also saw a few other 76 Buckskin Interiors when I was looking to purchase my car and all the dashes looked like yours. I think what you have is from the factory. I also just purchased a new dash pad and it is very close to my original color - dark brown.

My original smoke grey also had a darker dash pad.

Hi Suzzane, I have Smoke Gray in my 77. the dash is as much darker in it as yours is. I think you probably have original color. By the way, I looked at your pics on cardomain - Awesome!
