---DUMB QUESTION ALERT----
Is it possible to go down to your local Chevy or GM dealer or Delco supplier and purchase a side terminal battery like the one it drove off the showroom floor with? If it is, what is that confounded part#? This is (was) a base engine, A/C car. My wife sez she'll bake a batch brownies for whoever has that #. Thanks,Guys.

What originally came in your car was a group 74 battery. I don't know what that corressponds to now, but won't be a problem. Many batteries now come with both top post and side terminals. I put an Optima battery like that in my '78 with no problems at all.
Are you looking for a Delco simply to make it original? You can check with the dealer, but there other retailers that carry Delco as well.

Hey Gunslinger, you get the brownies!
Beat me to it.
Aww, I'm diabetic anyway.

Thanks for your answer, Gun...I guess I'm looking for a "Delco Freedom" with just side posts for authenticity, although an Optima would be my next choice. State-of-the-art battery technology. If you watch the TV show, "Jag", the audience caught a glimpse of it in his red 68(or 69).

Hey Ken, we'd feel horrible if we messed up your glucose levels, so she's gonna make'em with "Equal".

There are reproduction batteries available through Corvette Central and others that accurately appear like an oe battery, but they are EXPENSIVE!!! They come dry...you have to buy the acid locally and fill them and charge them.
To buy one of these batteries will cost upwards of $250. A lot to pay for original appearance...and they're not maintenance free like modern batteries are.

BTW - have your wife send the brownies to some GI's in Iraq. I'm sure they would use them more than me, but the thought is well appreciated.
