Talked the wifey into a ride in ‘ol blue this week. She has not been in it for years so I was delighted to see that she would go. Why is it whenever she gets in the car something fails. Lol. After knee replacement it’s been a hard sell to do anything like this. Surprise! After getting in the car click click. Rats. The 6 yo AGM battery gave up the ghost.
so off to auto part store for new one. Jeez have they gotten expensive. Ok back on the road again with a new Die Hard.

6 years old seems about right.
I wonder if doing a lot of sitting not being used reduces the life span .
I'll bet it was fun to drive, once the new battery was in, though!

I feel yer pain, Bruce...btdt. I keep battery "maintainers" on ALL of the ones that don't get started often(6 of them). It has extended the service life of them....well worth the $20(on sale) for them. If you consider getting one, make certain it has a charge rate of LESS than 1 amp. Anything more will damage the battery over time. All of mine are rated at .80 amp. 🙂

Thanks for the info on the battery maintainer. Last time I went with a AGM type figuring it would last longer, so yes, it did but not much. 6 years is a lot to expect so I feel ok. BTW, I figure over the time I've replaced the battery maybe 10 times......Geez (1975 -2025) Boy I'm I getting old HA!
The flooded cell type lasts maybe a year less, from what I remember.
The car sits way too much, so the battery is disconnected with a switch each time I drive it after parking in the garage. If I don't remember to do that the clock runs it down in 3 -4 weeks.
