Can anybody tell me where I can buy the pop in and twist style dash bulbs for an '81. I went on line, checked catalogs and have not been successful yet.

The bulbs are really two pieces. You have the bulb itself, and the plastic part that twists into the dash/cluster. The bulbs on an '81 should be the oblong-ish ones, and they push into the "holders", then the holders get twisted into the dash/cluster. Are you trying to get the bulbs w/holder, or just the bulbs themselves?
I'm pretty sure most of the vendors have them, and you should be able to get them at the local auto-parts place. The holders/sockets, on the other hand, might be a little more difficult to locate. If you have the owner's manual, check to see what # the bulbs are/should be.

Those sockets are available at places like Pep Boys, Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc. Same goes for the bulbs.
If you replace one bulb, go ahead and replace them all while you have the cluster out.
