Is the relay the blue can in the console? Looks almost like a blinker (I actually think it is...) My car is doing the same thing and my alarm is the same status as yours!!

I have no idea of what the blue can does.  I have one too.  I think it is the flasher for the alarm.  The relay is a silver squareish box that is bolted to a support membrane for the console about 4-6 inches in front of the drivers seat.  You access it from the driver's side.  I just unplugged mine.  It was too much of a hassle to remove.  As near as I can tell most of the anti-theft system has been disconnected for years.
