My 1969 front windshield developed a crack at the lower right side. I know the windshield is not original, This is my first time dealing with a corvette windshield problem. Any recommendations? use  Safelight?  already called my insurance company. They do not give recommendations. Thanks

Depends on how correct you want the car. You can ordered online from OEM glass and have numbers matching. You said the insurance didn't recommend anybody so you call any glass place. I recommend you have the place you pick go to your house so the windshield can cure for 24 hours. In Ma. we have glass coverage so we can either call the insurance company and they provide us with a list of people they like to use or call who we want. In my case I don't even call the insurance company. I just call absolute auto glass and they contact the insurance company to take care of everything. Google glass places in your area and pick one. If you know anybody that has a body shop they could recommend somebody they use all the time. But get quotes I have seen a difference of $150.00 from place to place. Hopefully other members from your are reply with who they use. Good luck!

I had safelight out to repair a small chip/crack in my Mini.  They don't tell you until they get out there (without a windshield) that the repair will always be visible.  For the same deductible I could have had a new windshield.  Just saying, no crack repair for me anymore.Confused

Just make sure whoever you call uses quality glass.

Thanks for the info. I will likely go with safelight, they can come to the house and I can watch the process

safelite didn't even show up,it seems these guys get paid by the job and don't like old cars. and if it even has surface rust, no guarantee blah blah blah. i called a local guy he came out removed it left for the weekend and returned monday a.m so i could re dye my dash and some other details. turned out he had a 77 so he did it like he had done it 10 times.
safelite did my 11 edge sport windshield and after telling them 3 times it had rain sensor wipers they still brought the wrong one. the guy was o.k , but I'm no fan of satellite.

That is a good idea with having the glass out for a weekend so you can work on the dash.  I do not have that issue as I replaced mine a while back but if I had only needed a dye job it would have been a great opportunity.

In my opinion I was support a local glass business before using a chain business like safelight. They all provide the same services. I googled glass companies in your area and found Binswinger glass they are on Angie's list also. When I changed mine they came and took it out and I did all the dash work needed. Called back when I was ready to install it all at no extra cost. Even if you don't have dash work to do you might be surprised what they find under the glass. If there is rust or rot that needs repair or even the clips that hold the moulding on need to be fixed before windshield goes back in. Window clips are not expensive I would make sure I have them on hand before I start the project. I would try to find NOS or ask what clips other members used that worked well.

Went online to safelight and entered my car info and they said they have a windshield but when I drove over to talk to them today, they said they do not work on any corvette older then 1975. Called my  Binswinger and they said they would have to look at the car. I received the same answer from a local glass company. This is my first time dealing with a 1969 corvette windshield replacement. I cannot  be the first person to deal with a cracked windshield??  I will continue to explore glass shops and hopefully find one that deals with older corvettes.  I am in the Norfolk,VA area.

Believe it or no, they broke PLENTY of front windershields installing them at the factory....that should tell ya something. The front glass in these cars is part of the structure, so it needs to be properly installed....preferably without breaking it. My best advice would be to see if there is a Corvette shop in your area that can either do it, or recommend someone that can. Ouch

I found a local glass shop and they are going to order and install the new windshield. Hagerty insurance is going to cover the repair work.
