SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
SOLD - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe
I used one of those tools for pushing in the spline when fixing window/door screens on the house.  Make sure to get the hefty-duty one as the cheap plastic ones will disintegrate in short order (been there - done that!  ).

Just like Norsky said, use the screen spline installer.  Take your time so as not to tear your new top.  I measured where the ends would go, from the center out and then started at the end and worked my way around.  The opening at either end allows for an easier start and then you can manage the rest.  Good luck

JR
