I need some information on convertible tops, what should I look for on specifications, what extra parts do I need, what’s a good brand and who to buy from.

I have found a shop to install it for under 4 bills that does quality work, and will order any top I request.

Thanks,
Rick

I bought a top & kit from Al Knock for $220, since I'm going to clean up the frame myself, I'll decide then if I'm brave enough to tackle the install as well.

I had rust pits and holes in my frame.. I filled them all in with jb weld and sanded smooth.. then I painted the whole things gloss black.. it looks sharp.

Almost nothing JB weld can't fix, I keep it in my desk at work, truck and garage!

Got the top and frame off this weekend, frame in good shape, just a couple of spots with surface rust.

After pulling the top off and seeing whats invloved, I'll let the pro's put the new on one....

I ordered my top kit from Al Knoch along with the install video. I can tell you that I have never installed a top before and mine came out near perfect. There is no way I could have done it without that video. Take your time (took me 3 days in between work, kids etc.)and stick close to the VCR. I had a question about the tack strip install, called Al Knoch Interiors and spoke to Al Knoch himself. He helped and then gave me his cellphone number in case I had any more questions!
Seems like a real nice guy. I say go for it!

Good luck

That's encouraging! The top is my next big hurdle! I had a good friend that did all his own tops and his cars always looked great. |thumb|

Considered replacing mine. Not high on my wish list though.
I would do it myself and it's nice to know the video
is helpful.
Haven't driven with the top up on mine in 3 or 4 years.
I raise it occasionally just to be sure it's still there.
Put to much work into the "restification" to drive it in
the rain. Slight chance of rain and it stays in the garage.
