I have a 68 roadster w/o air and my guage bezel is cracked at the thin point. Can it be repaired and if it can who could do it. I have the dash out now and would like to fix it before replacing it broken. I am also in need of new astro vent cables and vent assembly (if possible). Does anyone know where to pick up this stuff? Looked alot and can't find it so far

The 68 center gauge bezel has a smooth surface and I doubt it can be repaired properly. This bezel is specific to 68 only. There is an early one w/o wiper override (idiot) light. The late 68 has an idiot light for the wiper override. A new 68 bezel is $325.00 from corvette america (800-458-3475). Its almost impossible to find a used 68. If you do, everyone wants big money for it. Most people have gone with the early 69 one. The difference is that the 69 has a wrinkle finish. They run $139.00. The 69 is metal. I've never seen a real 68, but I've heard that they were made of plastic. Can't confirm this. It all depends if you ever want to have the car judged by the National Corvette Restorers Society (Top Flight Award). They deduct points for not having the smooth finish. I have a 69 that I'd sell, but but since you're close to Carlisle, I'm sure you can find one there. If interested in the one I have, let me know and I can send you a photo. I'd want $75.00 for it.

Thanks for the info. I mst have a late 68 as its smooth and has a wiper override (light). Mine is metal so you think its not origional? I tried some metal epoxy for now, But I would like to get a new one. Are the one at Corvette america orgional equipment and will they pass the test for Judging? Not that I have a top flight, but just want to keep it origional for myself and maybe someday.....
thanks again

If its smooth and made of metal, then this confirms that the plastic was just hearsay. For some reason the 68 bezel is prone to breaking.
For $325.00, the bezel should be an original reproduction. Corvette America stands behind their parts. I ordered a console fibor optic plate that was orginally metal. They shipped a plastic one. I sent it back saying it wasn't original and they refunded my money no questions asked. I'd be about 99% sure the 68 bezel will be what you want. I'm trying to get my car ready for a NCRS meet next year, so I'll probably have or order one as well, as I currently have a 69 bezel on it. Its only money!

There is one listed on e-bay. I sent an e-mail to the seller and he confirmed it was smooth. But the photo quality is poor. It looks like the little bar between the left side idiot lights is missing. I decided not to bid on it. Comes with gauges also.

Mine is cracked but otherwise perfect. I am trying to repair it. I picked up an epoxy type resin and rebonded it together. Repainted the whole console and so far-so good. Looks brand new and only cost me 10 bucks. That will do for now I think.
