trying to find out how to connect my tach.
my vette has an accel super coil and the original coil in the distributor cap was removed and with it the wire to connect the tach.

the wiring to the supercoil comes direct from the rotorhousing.
any idea how to connect the tach again ?

Put the (white?)wire that originally went to the "tach" terminal on the HEI cap on the "-" terminal of the coil. Adams' Apple2006-11-25 20:49:00

hmm. .. looks like that wire was already connected  to the coil..   just have to make a better check first since inbetween distributor, accel coil and wiring that goes inside that car  was  uhhh.. dunno how you call it .. a filter( for radiointerference?) connected.. so maybe there is something wrong with that.

but thanks again for the instruction Thumbs%20Up

Yup, there should be a "filter" in that wire. A lot of times, when the tach doesn't work, the filter is the culprit. You might try to by-pass it, and see if the tach will at least flop around. If it does, then the filter should be replaced. Also, verify the wire is on the "-" terminal, and not the "+" terminal.

looks like wiring is ok,  that" filter" . (as i was told when buying the car) wasn't a filter at all..  just 2 plastic caps put together with the excess of wire in it with tape around it GeekCensored.... checked the voltage on the dash  where the tach is plugged in and that was ok too.. so i guess the tach circuit board is dead.  already inquired for a new one .
