Color change

Im thinking of repainting my 72 to blue.

ive noticed the 70 blue is brighter and more to my liking.

seems like std vettes 350/350 can do modifications without hurting value these days.

what are some of your thoughts? Ive always liked the lemans blue.

I think it's currently YOUR Vette and you should do with it whatever makes you happy and not worry about resale. If you ever do decide to sell it after you turn it Blue, someone will still want to buy it.

The only reason I would say not to change the color would be if it is a really rare, very low mile, all original Vette. Just to keep it as close to stock as possible. But if it isn't any of those things, do what you want with it!

My 73 came from the factory Elkhart Green but PO had it painted Red. Not sure if I would have bought it if it was still green

No offense to the Elkhart Green fans out there, but, yeah! I wouldn't have bought it either. 🤣

I hesitated modifying my '75 thinking it may hurt the value, but realized it was not at all stock when I got it, (it had been painted and had a different engine), so I made it my own with many changes.

Interesting that I wanted one that did not have a computer (didn't want a complicated system. . .), but then I added electronic fuel injection and a computer controlled A/C system -- oh well.

Now it is my own, and I have learned so much in the process -- with much help from this forum.

There was an Elkhart Green droptop across the street from our first apartment and to be honest it wasn't a favorite color of mine.  A cousin had a '69 Chevelle in the deep Forest Green that, imho, should have been in the Corvette color palate instead.  When I was looking for "The Toy" I was flipping a coin between blue and red.  The coin landed on red and after purchase I discovered it came from the factory in Elkhart Green.  A previous owner had repainted "Resale Red" (actually Monza Red) which was fine with me.

As has been said previously it is YOUR car so make it the way YOU would like it to be.  Mechanical condition, mileage, and visual appeal will be major factors in its value should you ever decide to pass it along to another caretaker.

Like the other gent’s said, it’s yours and make it the way that makes you happy.  I changed my 80 from black to Brandywine.  Just be aware, body shops want a lot to do a full color change.  Lots of labor charges.  I ended up doing it myself.  A ton of work, but really happy I did it.
