Bear with me on this explaination. When I depress the brake pedal, I hear a click. Thought it was the break light switch. Bought a new one, disconnected the wires & removed it. When I depressed the "button" on the switch & released it there was no "click".

Depressed break pedal without any switch in and the "click" was there. Confused  Looked around and found another type of button release switch right above where I removed the brake light switch. Works on the same principle. Depress brake pedal, button releases. This is the culprit. It's the "clicker"!!! What is it? There is something (either a fat wire or vacuum line) connected to it.Hard to get good look at it. Feels like rubber though. How is removed & "reset" if necessary? Thanks.

Don't mean to be smart, but when I hit my brakes with the vehicle running, I hear the calipers depressing the pads into the rotor, a good sized clicking noise.  Are you talking about when the car is running?  That may be it!

Thanks, I should have mentioned that the car isn't running. I found the culprit thats clicking but don't know what it is. Looks like another brake light switch (above the brake light switch) without the cruise control connections.

That would be the cruise control cancel switch. The "fat wire" is indeed a vacuum line. It "dumps" the vac. to the cruise servo when you press the brake, to cancel the cruise.
Those thing will sometimes make a click noise, but still work fine. Then again, they may NOT work...ya just never know. If your car doesn't still have cruise, or you don't care if it works or not, just move the switch back in the bracket, and plug the vac. line....or remove the switch altogether, and plug the line.
