Having a problem with my choke light staying on (electric choke) and the idle is at 1000rpm even after warm up. I can disconnect the plug-in and the light will go out,but still have a high idle. Any thoughts on this?

Your choke coil may be melted, or otherwise damaged, keeping the fast idle cam engaged. You can remove the plastic coil/cover from the side of the carb and have a look-see. Most of the covers are riveted on, unless the carb has been re-built, and the rivets replaced with small Phillips-head screws.
The high idle is most likely due to the choke problem, so fixing the choke will also solve the high idle.
