Hello, I am going to remove the center gage cluster black face plate tonight to give it a paint job. I was wondering if anyone has any tips or hints so I don't break anything. I have a 1976 by the the way. Thanks |cheers| |headscratch|

The only thing I would say, would be be careful of the two screws that come up from the center console and into the guage face. The person who owned my car before was nice enough to just snap it off and crack it, so I will be needing to order one shortly. |no-no|

there's 4 screws 2 up where you can see them on the side and 2 low under the rug on the center console as stated above. It would be a good idea to mark each wire in the back attached with masking tape so you know where to put them when you put it back in. |cheers| |saluteflag|

I would also recommend removing the passenger's side dash. It will give you some extra wiggle room. Gauge bezel is very narrow just above the gauges. Yankin' on it can snap it there. |frown|

Like most Vette things, patience is the key. |thumb|

Thanks everone, I got the gage bezel out last night, I ended up taking out the whole center consul, and since I have it out I will use some dye and redo both the parking brake housing and the shifter housing. I did not have to disconnect all the gages, I just removed the four small screws that held the gages and the glass in place and by doing that got the bezel off so I can paint it. Thanks again, I will post a follow up after I get it all back together. |cheers|
