I am installing carpet from Mid America. It comes with the heat sheild and jute on the carpet. When I removed the old carpet I noticed I had a black rubber coated jute in the floor pans. I take it that it was used for sound deadning. My question is do I still need it with the new carpet? Should I replace it? Where to buy?
Thanks,
Jon

If the padding is in good condition, I would just lay the new carpet on top of it. It is there for sound deadening, as well as heat insulation.
