Hey,Flamed,...recently saw a TV show(Hot Rod TV)that had a piece on the Aussie Ford Falcon, the type that was also in the "Road Warrior".Nice car,I think the one shown was a 1975 model-the guy that owned it put a 429 in it.Said they had an option with 4 bucket seats,so he had someone scour the Aussie swap meets for the back trim & upholstery.I want one...although the left side might get torn up until I get used to the steering wheel on the right,eh,Mate? |laugh| |cheers|

If you guys wanted a C5 looking interior, why didn't you buy one instead of messing up a perfectly good CLASSIC CORVETTE? There are some of us that really appreciate the classics. |headscratch|

My wife's uncle has a stock, original 1928 Ford Model A and he says basically the same thing whenever he sees a hot-rodded 1920's or 1930's car.

If you hold the title to the car that gives you the right to do anything to it that you want to. Stock, modified, custom - the choice is entirely yours.

I'm stuck somewhere between preserving the "classics" because they'll never make them again, and improving on the original concept with some of todays technology, such as brakes, suspension, electronics, etc. But I have to draw the line at extreme(yet to be determined),and whether it ruins the value of the vehicle.Opinions are invaluable as long as they're not demeaning and insulting |biggrin| I guess the mid to late 70's Vettes are worth the least in money, but are some of the best designed in my opinion. |thumb|

I would agree with Norsky's assessment that owning the title pretty much entitles you to do whatever you want to the car. I can't answer for everyone, but the reason I didn't buy a C5 was because it doesn't look like a C3. Come to think of it, only one car looks like a C3. I think the C3 represents an era in production cars that is pretty much non-existent today. The design of the C3 is rivaled only by some of today's exotics (Ferrari and Lamborgini) as far as radical design. That being said, much of the technology on these cars is antiquated. I can understand and even appreciate the fact that you and others like you are out there to preserve the original car. And you are also correct when you say that, "There are some of us that really appreciate the classics." To imply that one of us that prefers to hot rod and modernize a classic is not among those is pretty far off base. There is a saying among the Jeep crowds that "Real Jeeps are built not bought." In my opinion, the same holds true for Corvettes. Your opinion might be different, and that is what makes a place like these forums so good. There is a mix of differing opinions, and who's to say one is right or wrong? Anyway, keep the shiny side up....

Come on Guys are we working and pationate about rice burners. I think not!! C3's need to remain original everyone is trying to modify and restore everything. But its like a double sided coin. Every car that people mess with just makes the value of mine go up. Hey its a better investment then the market!!

Rob, I agree with you. I am trying to keep my 82 as closed to original as possible. I recently had to put on headers as is was more cost effective than replacing one stock manifold ($434) just for the part. Other than that I am restoring it as close and cost effective as I can to the original. SAVTHEWAV |thumb|

This may be true, however, I can pretty much say with confidence that a 1979 Corvette will never make a mega-investment, ever. At least, I've never seen a '79 go for $30k. <shrug>

Not yet,SPORQ.........What about the future |idea| I personally got mine at a low $7000,the insurance company says its worth a minimum of $9000.I personally think its worth at least $10-11,000,& I havent even brought it all the way back to original yet-I've only had the Vette about 1.5 yrs..Check out www.msnusers.com/cutlasscorvetteworkinprogress and click on pictures if you want to check it out. |saluteflag|

Vette(s): 1980 corvette, very modified. Right hand drive done by myself.
Being as my car is a right hand drive C3, I don't get paranoid about being in original condition. Which gives me every excuse to do the things that I have done, putting in a rack and pinion I designed and made, has made the steering feel so much better than the old steering box (yuk). Hot rodding a vette is so much fun. |bouncy|
