Hello.

Well, to be quite frank, I find the Corvette C3 interiors to be the epitome of cheap garbage. I own a '79, and it just makes me sick when I sit in it and see the cheap plastic. Have any of you out there constructed a custom interior for your C3 beastie? I'm looking for ideas. Something more "modern," such as a C5 style, with a wrap around dash, maybe replace the instrument cluster with a digital panel. If you have photos, lets see them! Thanks.

I have not seen the swap in a vette. The small area you have to work with will dramatically reduce your options. Although the interior is plastic, for it's time it was pretty trick. In comparison with other 79 model cars, the vette was high end.

There are lots of kits for sale to modernize C-3 interiors,wood grain,carbon fibre,stuff like that.Never seen anything to convert to C-5 style,I dont know if it would work,as tight as the cockpit is in a C-3.Being an old guy,I'll stick to the classics,I'd like to see what you come up with though,keep us posted . Well,depends on what you mean by "old".If its just old you can do anything to it and theres not much differance in value.If its a "classic" you might detract from or ruin its "classic" value and appeal.If you dont like a classics lines,etc.,why own it? But of course if you own it,I guess you can do whatever you want to it,cant you. |idea|

Sporg, your Vette is not old, it is vintage |laugh|

, atleast that is what the catalogs say now. When I went to a car stereo shop looking for a new stereo for my '76, the salesman refered me to a local place called "Vintage Electronics", as they might have something that would fit.
Perhaps you should consider a '77 or older C3. While I like the looks of the '78-'82 C3's, I don't care for the plain door panels, interior door handles and armrests, which bare a remarkable likeness to those installed in Monza's, Camaro's, Malibu's, Monte Carlo's and such.
