I have recently updated my engine L48 to a L31 (1996 Tahoe 350) I would like to reverse the hood configuration to open from the front instead of the back. I was wondering if anyone has accomplished this in the past. The engine exchange went well as I retained all the original accessory mounting as it bolts directly to the L31 block.

Just curious as to why you would want to change one of the trade mark designs of the corvette? I have never seen one done so maybe you would be a pioneer in this modification. Good luck, and remember, the only one that you need to please is yourself, build it the way you want it, I did!

Vette(s): 1979, Targa Blue (72 Color), Pace Car rear spoiler, L88 hood, Dark blue factory interior, 525HP 406, HD 700R4, 370 gears,Steeroids, composite rear spring, TT IIs wrapped in T/A Radials.
Never seen it done. The rad support comes close to the hood and fitting a latch in there would seem to need a lot of fabrication. Likewise at the rear for the engine compartment, we dont have structural framework or the space that conventional rear mounted sprung hinges would require.
If ya find any successful mods, let us know. That would be neat to see.

That would be different and make some things easier to work on. Never heard of anyone doing this either.
For easier under the hood work, I have seen the pined hood hinges which allow you to remove the hood with ease, something I have thought about getting.
