In 1971 at least, the horn relay was coming with a buzzer. It is not clear to me what the condition(s) is(are) supposed to be to trigger the buzzer. Mine does buzz when I open the driver's door with apparently no other condition. I feel this is somewhat helpless so I keep the wire disconnected so that it does not bugg me.
Anyone has a better explanation of the purpose of this buzzer ?

Christian.

My '72 also has a buzzer. The only condition that activates it is driver's door open with the key in the ignition, motor not running.

I have no idea what effect the passenger door may have on it . . . 'cause I'm the driver. |cool| |thumb|

Let us know what else you find.

The combination {driver door open}+{ignition key in}+{engine not running} makes sense to me.
Funny enough, my buzzer (when connected) works when the driver's (not the passenger's) door is open, whether the ignition key is in or not.

That means the contact switch by the ignition key assembly is shorting, or the wires going to it. It's under the steering wheel lock plate.

Thank you Ken. I will check the switch. In the meantime, I have just disconnected the buzzer.
Thanks. |thumb|
