bulb for the top of guage cluster

I have problem.. there is a light on the top of the gauge cluster. It is on the very top. I tried to use a regular socket but they are to small. I have looked at several sites and just not sure what to call it.

 

Need more info.

What year vette is it?

Are you talking about the light that shines down over the center gauge cluster on to the climate control?

 

Yea it is that light. My vette is an 80

Paragon Reproductions has a listing for the console light housing.  Mine is melted. These are a pain in the butt to change.

Part #8727 - $12.00. I'm going to call them this week and make sure its the whole housing w/ the socket.

As for the bulb. I looked in my '63-'82 Chiltons book and the # for the bulb listed is a 558 - A/C or heater control panel.

 

well, I ordered the housing for the light, but it did not come with a socket. Mine had also melted, and the housing it a different size than the ones on the back of the guage cluster

 

That sucks. No socket. Did they offer any info on where to get the socket at? I'm assuming you ordered through Paragon? I will look around and see if I can't come up with a socket. This may take awhile.

I will look around also, actually I ordered from Ecklers, If the socket is available from Paragon, then great and if you would let me know.

I will give Paragon a call this week. If they don't have it, I will see if the local corvette shop here has any good used sockets laying around. If they have one I can send it out to you if your interested.

That would be great I don't have a corvette shop anywhere within hollerin distance so if you  could I would apprecitate it...

 I can get the socket (used.) He wants $25 for the socket w/housing. I will see if he will sell me just the socket. I myself need the whole assy.
