I noticed today that both my upper & lower alt. brackets on my 71 350/270 were broken. I never did like the long span on the adjustment bracket. Has anyone ever replaced the brackets with a different design?

Yep, Built my own heavy duty type out of 1/4" flat heat bent to shape for the top mount and still use the long standard arc for the adjuster. since then have never had a problem.
