B-Pillar Weatherstripping

Hey All.

I need some help from someone that has done this before...

I need to replace the weatherstripping on the B-Pillar (at least I think it's called the B-Pillar... if you're looking at the driver's door window from the outside, it is the right side of the frame)

I took off the interior molding to see what was holding that piece of stripping on there, and they seem to be rivits. I was hoping for screws. Do I need to break the rivits, then find screws that will do the job, or what?

Any help will be much appreciated!

Ok Adam, as you know I just did mine this winter. I took off the interior trimpiece and exposed the rivets. Then I drilled them out. I did not replace them with screws. If you use 3M Weatherstrip adhesive, you will not need screws. Just put the adhesive on both pieces, put it in place and use "blue" painters masking tape to hold it until the cement dries. The blue tape will not leave residue on your paint like the regular stuff will.
I did this and mine looks like new and doesn't leak.

Can you please expand on what you mean by "Drilling out the rivets"?

No problem Adam. I went in from the inside of the car and took a drill bit (3/8 I think) and drilled through the center of the rivet. The head will come off on the drill bit and then just take a pair of pleirs and pull the rest out from the "outside" of the car. Does this make it easier to understand?

Got it! Thanks... I'd never drilled a rivet before so I wanted to make sure I got clearer instructions!

No problem Adam. Just make sure that the drill bit you choose fits in the center of the rivet. just enough to take off the head. Don't use a larger one or if you go too deep, you'll drill into the body pillar. Let me know if you need anytying else
