The header bar I am bonding is shaped like a "V" in plan view. In profile it looks like a "U" with wings, is approx. 48" long X 2" tall and 5 1/2" wide.
This bar has no rivets but is bolted to brackets and to the wheel wells at each end and of course bonded to the fiberglass.
The reason for all the concern is because the (heavy) headlight assembly/ mounting brackets are secured to the channel as well as the vacuum relays and fiberglass stressing. This puts alot of strain on the header bar and bond. Thanks!

I have a 1969 vette and I used the SMC adhesive to bond my header bar back into place. My header bar is riveted to a bonding strip and is supported on each end at the wheel wells. I used four large C clamps to hold it in place while the adhesive cured. I paid around $27.00 for a quart of SMC adhesive and hardner from an autobody supply shop.
