Bonding Adhesive

The Manufacturer is LORD, the material is a two part cartridge system, the material is exclusivly used in autobody repairs. The dispensing gun Model number is 301. The dispenser is made specifically for the cartridge.

They have a distributor locator on their web site.  Just type in your zip code and a local shop should come up.

You might check 3M products. We used two-part epoxy in joined cartridges while I worked in the aerospace industry. We had the equivalent of pneumatic chaulking guns that accepted the twin cartridges. We purchased the guns from 3M. Hope this helps.

I feel your pain. Just about all of the adhesive manufacturers have their own gun. If you buy their mix, you then are locked into the gun specific for that material. This holds true in construction adhesives as well. Some use a "sausage" pack, others use a 2 tube configuration. Even the mixing nozzles are brand specific. The other, less costly option is to go back to the old fashioned way and use the can mix. Evercoat makes a bonding adhesive, I used Bailey's. Be careful, some are just for the SMC panels and others will only work on glass panels. The SMC adhesive will work on glass, but the glass panel adhesive will not work on SMC. The SMC bonding mix has a slower cure time which can be an advantage for fitting panels. You can even fashion a tube much like the way cake decorators do to "squirt" the mix where you need it, this is actually the way restorers used to do it before the mixing guns were available. What I am about to embark on seems to be an open issue and that's OK.

Keep in mind, the steel header bar is riveted to a bonding strip which in turn is bonded to the surround panel. I would recommend replacing the rivets and then rebonding to the surround. If the header bar is too rusted, it can be replaced, several vendors offer them.
