On Monday thanks to my family I will be ordering the Mounted leather seats for my 80. I have a choice of either 2" or 4 " bolsters. Any recommendations? I'm a fairly large guy and I'm looking for as much comfort as possible.

Tough call. The larger bolsters do give more support and fit you in better, but sometimes they are a bit too restrictive for a large person. It depends on how big you are. They can make it difficult to slide in and out. So there are plus and minus. See if you can compair to what you have, and put some foam or a pillow on both sides to try to get an idea of how it will feel.
Then also consider how you are going to drive the car. If it's easy cruising, I would go with the 2 inch. But hard cornering and on the track, the 4 inch would be better.

I just installed pre-covered on new foam, leather/vinyl on 4" bolsters in my 79. I am 6' 3" tall, and weigh 195, 35" waist. My butt ain't that wide, but I am snug in those dudes. Seats are stiff, but I am sure that will wear in. Does anyone know how these cars came from the factory 79-82, and the 78 PC? I have not seen where you could have a choice. Is this the aftermarket manufacturer's offering this?

Yes, it's aftermarket. And personally I prefer the 2 inch. But I'm not racing.

That sure is a nice family. I'm 6'1" and 285. Go with the 2". A lot easier to get in and out not to mention there not as "snug".

Yep, they are good to me. I don't even get complaints about the car. I will go with the 2" bolsters. Don't want to get stuck. Was going to order yesterday but glad I waited. Looking to streach the dollar how hard is it to install the seats myself. If I do it looks like I can make my wish list longer.

this has me thinking.. im 6'0 180-185 32waist (depending on season
) and im not exactly covered up with head room.. or seating room..
especially when im the first car at the light (with the tops/ragtop on) and have to slouch down to see the signal light.. how do some of you taller/bigger/rounder guys drive one of these things??

I'm 6'1" and 250lbs 40" waist and it is tight I must say. I dont think of it like a cadillac that you sit inside, I think of the corvette like a shoe or glove, You slip into it and lace it up.

Good question. Being 6-3, 194 lbs. I have been this way for many years. Past Vettes, seats were easy when no bolsters, etc. Now these new stiff 79 seats with 4" bolsters. Tight.
You have to get in them. Settle down, wriggle a little, then after the seat is taken care of, do a crouch. That is, slide down some more. What happens is my behind slides down, and the pants, usually jeans, stick to the seat. Then, put the steering wheel down almost into your lap. Strap the belt, put on shades, turn the key. Adjust mirror. Cool ..... Back out of garage. Get the nose pointed straight, warm up, Then punch it.
Boats are easier, a lot easier.
I can take the whole seat shell and cushions out, put a small cushion behind my back, now sitting on the floor, and have a little more room.
