One more question:   one of my cosmetic rims (just the rim part, outer part)   is loose due to some of the fasteners have come off.  can I just buy a new rim part or  I gues I can live with it because the remaining fasteners are opposing so it probably will not come off (I've had it up about 60 more than once)  any suggestions would be helpful

If your question is, "can I buy a new beauty ring? ", the answer is yes. Most of the mail order places have them. If the question is "can I fix this one?" , I don't think so. I jest went out and looked at one of my spares, and the clips look like they're pretty solidly made onto the ring. It would take a lot of bending open & re closing to do it, and it probably wouldn't look too good in the end. There are two different types of original rings. The earlier style had one of the four clips close to the valve stem hole, and the later style had the clips moved farther away from the v-stem hole. Most of the aftermarket style are the ones with the serrated 'grippers' all the way around the ring. I believe the later style original trim rings are the ones that are still available. m2c

Vette(s): 69 Conv #'s match 427, TKO-600/.64, 3.36HD-Posi, HT, T/T, PS, PB, PW, SP, Leather, Comp XE264HR & Roller Rockers & Lifters, Air-Gap RPM intake, Holley St Av 770 VS, MSD 6AL+Dist+Blaster SS, K&N, Jet-Hot Hooker Side-Pipes, Steeroids, Al Rad, Spal Fans

yeah they are readily available..

my advice..  take your originals off and save them..

buy a set of 4 stainless rings with the new grippers..  much easier to keep clean..

if you buy one OEM ring..  it wont look worn like your others and it will stand out..

and if i remember right.  buying four aftermarket stainless costs about the same as one original..

if youre just dying for an original..  i may have a spare in the bonepile.. it will look worn and match the ones you have better.

let me know

Ben is right about "matching" the rings. I wanted newer rings and purchased non OEM, they're very nice but, they don't have the same brightness, they have a slight smoked look to them and have a noticeable difference to my orginal center caps. I decided to keep the OEM's in place. Wasted $50.00.

Anthony,

Your car doesn't have the same center cap as mine. I don't think the slight difference would be noticeable on yours. Maybe I'm being to pickyune.

Hey, if you want them, and don't like them, give em back. It won't hurt my feelings
