Make sure you get a battery tender and NOT a trickle charger.

It needs to monitor the battery voltage and only charge when it is below 12V.

And it needs to be a slow charge, for all the reasons above.

I just bought a NAPA 85-201 for $26+. It's output is 12V @ 900mA dc, has three lights, Pwr On, Charging & Full Charge. Physical size is a little larger than a cell phone charger w/ Aligator clips. I haven't had to use it though.

I have a little Black & Decker tender that plugs into the lighter socket, does a fine job all winter and when not in use..cheap, Wal-Mart..Terry
Just exactly how does this work if the battery charger plugs into the lighter socket, which runs off the battery........is this some kind of perpetual motion device?Wink
................Actually, the charger plugs to a 110 volt outlet and the other end into the cig. lighter instead of hassling with the battery clips. Very convenient.

Does anybody make a solar one for my boat? I don't use it very often and by the end of the summer the battery is pretty low. No place to plug in a 110volt charger down by the water.
