Well I got her checked out at a local auto parts store. Charging 16V.... ouch... showed zero amps...
So much for the AC Delco rebuilt unit that is not very old......

Guess I will just get a rebuild tomorrow AM. NAPA version....

What's that old saying, "they don't make them like they used to".
Well I think "they don't rebuild them like they used to" either.....

Vette(s): 72 coupe, 350 4 spd, modified motor, exhaust, tires & wheels. '91 ZR1, modified exhaust.
The regulator you speak of is a set of diodes, which can be replaced, and if that's the problem. It usually is the culprit. While your in there, you can also take a look at the slip rings. They sometimes get pretty black and can be cleaned up easily with some very, very fine sand paper or crocus cloth. Of course, this is if you decide to do it yourself.

Well I got...er done.
It took a couple alternators to get the right fit. The first one was a 70A and didn't fit well with the belt. It was rubbing against the valve cover. Changed it out for a 63A NAPA rebuild and went right on....lots of room for adjustment and she worked perfect (also half the price). No more overcharging.

Man this car runs good...... Even got a few waves on my test drive..... Thanks for the advise everyone.
