Well in some ways it's nice to know others have or had the same problem. Thanks for all the input and I guess the meter comes out and the investigation begins. I'm starting to think it has something to do with the pennys that were taped over the door switches when I got her - of course I removed them.

Vette(s): #'s matching hugger orange '77. flowmasters rebuilt eng & trans
Hi, I know you have read alot of these but just let me add one more. I just (three days ago) had this one solved on my '77: the wiper motor was beat but since the wipers were slightly engaged (up alittle) they were using power and would drain batt. over night. New wiper motor no more problem.
Thing is since we dont drive our prize possesions in the rain that goes unchecked.
Good luck! |hammer|

I have a drain also. My amp gauge is not working and someone once told me that this could be the source of the drain. Anyone ever heard of this before? I've been using the cut off switch for now.

I believe everyone has had this problem at one time or another. My problem was come and go sometimes it would drain overnight and then maybe a week later. Found the problem on a sleepless night, went to the garage a noticed a very thin line of light around the glove box. Yes thats right the glove box button was not deactivating every time and vibrations from driving made it erratic.

Bob I know how you feel. I often have an answer that someone already answered. But that's fine.

Corvette427, the amp gauge won't cause a current drain unless it is shorted to ground. It has no ground path, just a straight through path. If it is grounding it would most likely create a direct short and cause it to blow a fusiable link.

It is possible that's your problem, but unlikely.

Once again this great community comes through. I found a loosely connected ground wire that was hanging on a stud inside the drivers side fender on the firewall for a missing alarm horn. I'm no electrical expert, but tracing all of the alarm wires as suggested in this thread yielded the answer to my problem. No more battery drain

Thanks TUMAR!!

as I sit here reading these posts and appreciate the knowledge that is generated from everyones imput and experience, I can only think back about a week ago or so when someone from the corvette forum was confused about why we would pay to belong to the c3vr.PRICELESS.
