 I did a real dumb thing and now I have no activity when I try and start the engine. any advice where to start looking for problems would be appreciated CryCryCry

On which car?
Most likely a blown fuse link. '72 and '78 cars have slightly different wiring systems, so it would help to know which one we're looking at!

If you haven't already, try a new battery but Joel is right it's probably a fuse problem, good luck. Gene
