Hey Folks,

I'm posting this question for a friend. When he turns on the high beams in his 82 Vette, all four head lights go out. It just started doing this. He has halogen bulbs, but they have been working flawlessly up until now. Any ideas on where to start looking for the problem? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I would suspect if all lights go out, it might be a healight switch problem. Especially if it just started. The halogen bulbs shouldn't be a problem, that's what I have in mine and no problems

If the low beams work ok and they all go out when you switch to high beams it has to be in the dimmer switch. It is probably corroded, try switching it back and forth several times to see if it does start to work. A lot of times it can be lubricated with wd-40 or similar and will work for long time. You will probably want to remove it to do this so it can be turned upside down and also so as not to get lube on your carpet. If it won't start working again simply replace it it is a simple job 2 screws and 1 elec connector. The switch is less than $10.00 new.
