Ammeter blown

I have a 72 and had a wire short out under dash while working on console cluster,

the ammeter dosent work now, will replacing ammeter work, i found the short and fixed it.

i just dont know if anything else needs to be looked at before replacing ammeter

Before I replaced the ammeter, I would check it to make sure there was not a problem in the wiring elsewhere. You could check it by having it disconnected from the wiring and using an ohmmeter, you should see a small deflection in current. At least I think that would work.
