Looking inside the door of my 77,I see the wires at the door lock which must be for the alarm.Yes/no? Assuming so,do I cut those and cap them or leave alone and just not replace the alarm horn under the drivers side fender.Call me crazy, but I don't want to fool around with that alarm!

Hey Mike, I live just over the road in Deltona and I have a 77 vette and a damn good mechanic. He can do anything. I will ask him about those wires, he got my fender alarm working by changing some wires that someone had connected wrong. I will let you know. He is replacing my steering box tomorrow, he replaced the rag gear in my steering just yesterday. He knows his stuff. You can e-mail him at kingcobralk@yahoo.com if you like.
I had forgotten that these cars like to get into your wallet all the time.

Mike, why not just leave the wires connected on the door locks? They're not gonna hurt anything. Just remove the alarm "flasher", or relay, if your late '77 has one, and be done with it? This way, if you or anyone else wants to get the alarm back up & runnin, it will be simple.

Even easier - crawl under the car and disconnect the wires to the alarm horn. Tape over the ends if you feel it is necessary.

You can disconnect the horn, but...if the system gets armed/set off, it will drain the battery, and you won't know why! It's best to remove the flasher, or the relay, to totally disable the system.
The wiring diagram for '77 shows a relay AND a flasher. The relay is located under the shifter console, and the flasher is normally in the jack compartment. Some '77 cars may have the relay and the flasher in the jack compartment...just have to look. It is best to remove/unplug the relay itself. That way, there is no chance of a power drain.
