The switch at the front, by the hinge area is for the interior/courtesy lights. The one on the rear, in the door lock area is for the alarm.

Joel,The only pin switch on my doors is the one up front for interior lights that you just told me of.I have no other switches in the door jambs.Mine is a late 77 that has alarm key by door handle,not on fender.Maybe no pin switch on late 77 for alarm?

Then it's for the alarm, too. Earlier Vettes have a larger plastic switch on the rear jamb below the latch bolt.
